September 22-23, 2007 AccuCare and Baptist Hospital are hosting a two-day introductory to intermediate level course for the physical therapist managing patients with temporomandibular dysfunction. Evidence-based material is presented in a lecture and laboratory format. Course participants cover relevant anatomy of the TMJ and cervical spine, biomechanics, pathophysiology, differential diagnostics and imaging techniques. The course describes the PT's role in a team approach with discussion of both non-surgical and post-surgical interventions and rehabilitation. A discussion of the more common surgical interventions, psychological implications and issues related to physical therapy rehabilitation round out the material.
